FAQs
What causes gums to bleed during brushing?
Bleeding gums are often a sign of gingivitis, an early stage of gum disease caused by plaque buildup. It can also occur if you brush too hard or use a toothbrush with stiff bristles. Switching to a soft-bristled brush and maintaining proper oral hygiene can help.
Are loose teeth always a sign of gum disease?
Not always. Loose teeth can also result from trauma, grinding, or changes in bite alignment. However, gum disease is a leading cause and should be ruled out promptly to prevent further damage.
Can gum disease be reversed?
Gingivitis, the early stage of gum disease, is reversible with professional cleaning and good oral hygiene. Advanced gum disease (periodontitis) can be managed to prevent progression, but its effects may not be fully reversible.
